Chablis is considered by some Chardonnay drinkers to be the 'ultimate expression' of the grape- unsullied by oak and grown on unique kimmeridge limestone soils that impart the elegance and minerality.  This is a 'Premier Cru' example from the coveted Vaillons block, known for its lifted floral aromatics wrapped around a citrus mineral core - a sub-region morning dominated by morning sun rather than the warmer afternoon that gives a wonderful structure and intensity to the wine.

Rully is further south in the Cote Challonaise, and produces wines closer in style to the more famous Meursault. Fully barrel aged, this wine is more bold than the Chablis with a toasty and smoky twist, riper stone fruit and a creaminess but nowhere near the butterbomb style of Chardonnay.
