Possibly the most ubiquitous of top tier white Burgundy appellations- Meursault is known for rich and full bodied Chardonnays grown on classic limestone soils. Barrel fermented and bold style, restrained and delicate nose, florals, nougat building with decanting time. Broad across the palate with concentrated savoury stone-fruit, hazelnut, preserved lemon and toasty wood. A firm backbone and a long mineral finish that will become more generous with some cellar time.
The grapes come from a parcel with shallow soil, known as « Les Forges », a recognised 'Lieu Dit' located to the west of the village of Meursault. The grapes are harvested by hand and then directly pressed in a pneumatic press. Alcoholic fermentation takes place entirely in French oak barrels, of which 40% are new. The lees are stirred (bâtonnage) occasionally during ageing, which lasts 11 months.
