Bandol is one of the most cherished sub-regions of Provence when it comes to wine. Grown on hot stony hillsides, with some cooling breezes from the Mediterranean make this one of the few ideal sites for the Mourvedre grape.  

Compared to more standard Provence Roses, the Mourvedre base means an earthier, spicier and more full bodied style of Rose.  This version is a blend of Mourvedre 40%, Cinsault 30%, Grenache 20% and Carignan 10%.

Cool maceration before light pressing and cool fermentation in concrete tanks. Pale salmon in colour, aromas of citrus, fruit jam and spice. Fresh and dry on the palate, complex with a long mineral finish. Excellent example of classic Bandol Rosé.

About Domaine Suffrene

Domaine La Suffrene is a high quality family vineyard and winery in the treasured appellation of Bandol. The vineyards of the 45-hectare Domaine la Suffrene are spread over the communes of La Cadiere-d'Azur and Castellet in the Provencal appellation of Bandol. The estate is run by Cedric Gravier and although the first estate-bottled wines were released only in 1996, the domaine is now one of the leading producers of the region.

This small region is famous for both red and rose wines, a small 1500 hectare region of the French Mediterranean coast.  Dominated by the Mourvedre grape ideally suited to the hot and dry stony soils. Bold, earthy, spicy and mineral, Bandol wines are some of the very best that Provence has to offer.
